Here I looked online for advertising and I found an interesting subject. I looked for shoes and saw that Payless was advertising that they have designer shoes and clothes at a cheaper price than all of their competitors. I must admit, their prices are very affordable. However, Payless has no way of knowing that their prices are in fact the cheapest out their for the products they sale. For all they know, their products are being sold in some random town for even cheaper. I know this argument is a little hard to believe, but it does not change the fact that it is a possibility.
Payless also offers a few deals that encourage potential buyers to buy their products. For example, they offer deals on free shipping if you spend a specific amount of money. Also, they offer a flat rate on ground shipping, no matter what the size of the package. These small techniques are great tools for advertising.
Hey Caleb! Your post about Internet advertisng was very simple and easy to understand! I must agree that your ad was very misleading since Payless doesn’t for sure know that they have the cheapest prices. They also advertise that they have designer shoes and from my experience in working in a high retail store makes it hard to believe that these “designer” shoes that they are selling are really what they say they are. If the shoes were really designer and selling for cheaper, why wouldn’t everyone just buy their shoes there? There has to be a catch! It’s just like outlet stores, they aren’t necessarily cheaper and their products aren’t actually up to standards people just find reasons to buy these products because outlet stores have such “good deals”.
ReplyDeleteNice post! I always see ads that state their products are cheaper than any other companies. Most of the time I know that they are lying because I do see products cheaper somewhere else. I believe that they do this so they can lure you into their site or store to browse and there will be a product that you are going to want. Free shipping for a spending a certain amount of money always convinces me to get more things. Normally I would go on a site and get one or two things but since I want free shipping I will shop more so I can get that free shipping. Also if I have there is a flat rate, I will have more incentive to get more things because I am already paying for shipping, might as well get more things so that shipping will be worth it. I am such a sucker for those things.
